Electrokinetic Actuation of Low Conductivity Dielectric Liquids
There has been some amount of confusion over the origin of electrohydrodynamic phenomena responsible for the actuation of dielectric fluids in the presence of an electric field. Previous studies have accounted for the possibility of conduction pumping, ion drag pumping and induction pumping as driving mechanisms but have ignored the possibility of Maxwell (electric) pressure driven flow. Until ...
متن کاملFaceted Micro-channels for Low-dispersion Electrokinetic Flows
A novel methodology for designing microfluidic channels for lowdispersion, electrokinetic flows is presented. The technique uses simple trigonometric relations that apply for ideal electrokinetic flows, allowing channels to be designed using a hand calculator. Nloreover, channels are easily constructed using common planar manufacturing techniques. Close agreement is observed for particle path l...

متن کاملSpectral Efficiency of Low-Complexity Multiuser Detectors
A family of multiuser detectors is analyzed which require neither matrix inversions nor other operations with significant complexity. The time complexity per bit of most of them is independent of the number of users. Nevertheless, their spectral efficiency for random spreading sequences is shown to be not far behind that of linear MMSE detection.
